Residents, police concerned over string of burglaries in Albuquerque

More than 65 home burglaries across the city in two weeks has Albuquerque police concerned. Officials are not concerned because of the number of burglaries, but because of how easy it was for the thieves to get inside.

"The burglars didn't have to break down the door or break open a window because of people leaving open doors, open windows, open garages that made it real easy for these criminals to come in and victimize them," said APD Police Chief Ray Schultz.

Homeowner Diane Lopez had no idea about the string of burglaries and was horrified she had been leaving her garage open.

When asked if she was planning to close it she responded saying "I think so, we've had bicycles taken."
